God's Grandeur

Reflections on walking in the presence of God - occasional meditations on praying always, work and prayer, choosing life, not the anesthesia of escapism, mindfulness, the grace of suffering, and any other topic that comes to mind. But always in the end, the grandeur of a God who loves us no matter what, who became small and helpless like us for no reason at all other than that he loves us, and that because of his great love, in the end, no matter what, all shall be well.

About Me

Anne
Apple Valley, California, United States
I am a Catholic Worker living at the High Desert Catholic Worker on the southern edge of the Mojave Desert. At our house we offer retreats to other CW folk and those who, because of their ministry, can't afford to go to a regular retreat house. We are free to those who do the works of mercy. I have a Master's equivalent in Pastoral Studies, emphasis on Spiritual Direction, from Loyola University New Orleans. I am a Benedictine Oblate, and am working on bringing the Benedictine Charism back to the Catholic Worker movement. Dorothy Day was a Benedictine Oblate, and between her and Peter Maurin's experience of the Benedictine Monastic tradition, the Catholic Worker is profoundly Benedictine in spirit, although much more loosely organized. Our aim is Peace, to make a place where it is easier to be good. A place to listen with the ear of the heart.

God's Grandeur

The world is charged with the grandeur of God. It will flame out, llike shining from shook foil;; It gathers to a greatness, like the ooze of oil Crushed. Why do men then now not reck his rod: Generations have trod have trod, have trod; And all us seared with trade; bleared, smeared with toil; And wears man's smudge and shares man's smell:the soil Is bare now, nor can foot feel, being shod. And for all this, nature is never spent; There lives the dearest freshness deep down things; And though the last lights off the black West went Oh morning at the brown brink eastward, springs- Because the Holy Ghost over the bent world broods with warm breast, and with ah! bright wings!
